23/05/2007 TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
Shawbo’s father allowed her to marry Namr Mohammad Ali at age sixteen. For three years she lived at his family’s house in Kurdistan waiting for her husband to sponsor her to the U.K. They had a nine month year old baby girl. Her grieving father speaks fondly of his daughter as the one closest to him. One of her brothers, who presently live in the U.K., had shown a family photo to his friends and Namr, who knew the father asked for her hand in marriage.
Namr lives in Birmingham in the U.K. registered as an Iranian, under the name of Namr Mohammed Ali. Apparently, he had a criminal record with the police in Kurdistan, of which Shawbo’s father admits he did not know.
About a month ago Namr’s father called him to advise him that his wife Shawbo had received a telephone call from a stranger. Namr decided to come on a visit to Kurdistan where he stayed at his father’s house with Shawbo for a month. Towards the end of the month Shawbo returned to her father’s house very angry because Namr’s family accused her of having a strange telephone number in her mobile. It is alleged that her father in law asked a young boy to call Shawbo in order to make this false accusation. Shawbo’s father claims that he has the recording of the person who called her mobile. Namr went to Shawbo’s father’s house explaining that he did not believe the accusations against her and please allow Shawbo to join him on a trip to Ducan for two days.
Shawbo’s father explained that he was very concerned about the safety of his daughter. He always called to check on her. On the third day of their visit, someone made an anonymous call to Shawbo’s father informing that the husband’s family is planning to kill his daughter. He still has that number. Later on in the day the father received a second anonymous call, only this time telling him that his daughter was already dead and where he should go to find her body.
Upon arrival at the place, there the father found Shawbo’s body riddled with seven bullets, her body all bruised and one hand broken in two places. He reported this to the police. Subsequently Namr’s mother and sister’s husband have been arrested. Shawbo’s father is very sure that Namr has returned to the U.K. The father also believes that the person who helped Namr plan this crime was his brother who is a PUK police officer.
